One two-month journey through Australia is being halted following the death of an older female passenger who was abandoned by the vessel on a isolated tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the remote island with other travelers from the vessel, but broke off from the group for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and came back several hours later after the ship staff discovered the passenger was missing.

An extensive rescue mission located her body the next day.

Authorities are investigating the tragedy, in coordination with police and the state coroner.

The CEO of the shipping company stated that passengers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the journey had been terminated due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he mentioned that travelers would be given a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to arrange the return journeys of the individuals via specially arranged planes".

Officials also released an latest announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Master" preventing any additional guests from entering the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the liner in Cairns upon its arrival.

Sequence of Events

The vessel originally sailed from the Australian port on 24 October, and was merely two days into the journey at the time of the senior passenger's demise. Lizard Island was the opening port on the voyage.

Passengers on board - who typically pay substantial amounts of currency to participate in the cruise - were ferried there for a shore visit with the option of walking or snorkelling.

Relatives Statement

The daughter of the elderly passenger said that her loved ones was "stunned and saddened that the ship left the island after an organised excursion without my mum".

Via her announcement, she described her mother as an "energetic elderly person" who was a participant of a bushwalking organization.

"From the little information we have been informed, it seems that there was a failure of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she hoped the investigation would be able to determine what "the company should have undertaken that might have saved Mother's existence".

"According to reports from the police that it was a very hot afternoon, and mother fell ill on the hill climb," she stated.

"They requested her to head down, alone. Then the ship sailed away, reportedly without conducting a roll call.

"During some point in that chain of events, or shortly after, she passed away, by herself."

Operator Response

In a statement, the Chief Executive confirmed that the organization was "cooperating fully with authorities to aid their investigation".

He stated that the firm was "extremely apologetic that this has occurred" and had provided its complete assistance to the relatives.

Shipping Sector Procedures

The liner caters for up to one hundred twenty guests with 46 crew, according to official information. It was specially constructed to access remote regions of the nation's shoreline and is equipped with "tenders" - minor craft used to take travelers on day excursions.

Occurrences such as this are uncommon, and liners have protocols to record which travelers are embarking or disembarking, according to travel authorities.
